What fun this piece was to create! The inspiration came from the BBC miniseries House of Elliot set in the post WWI time period. The gorgeous period wardrobes in this classic costume drama were a delight to watch! Common in the 1920ís era were long svelte necklaces and Swinging Starlets has its genesis from examples in this bygone era

Small bezeled stars arrayed on a fine beaded chain create a long luxurious necklace that is suggestive of the long svelte necklaces of the 1920s. The chain is a simple form of square stitch and it's beaded as one piece. The method used for the herringbone in the neck strap is one I learned from Carol Wilcox Wells and I believe it makes much prettier stitches than the method starting with a bead ladder. The tassel uses graduated sizes of seed beads to give it more visual weight at the bottom.
